Photographer’s Note

Taken at Barae-Bong in Jirisan National Park ('Bong' is Korean, for 'peak'). From Wikipedia:

"Rhododendron schlippenbachii (Royal Azalea) is a species of Rhododendron native to the Korean Peninsula and adjacent regions of Manchuria (Liaoning, Nei Mongol), Japan, and the Russian Far East. It is the dominant understory shrub in many Korean hillside forests, growing at 400-1500 m altitude.

It is a dense deciduous shrub growing to 4.5 m in height, but more commonly 1-2 m tall. The leaves are obovate, 4.5-7.5 cm long and 2.5-4.5 cm broad, with scattered glandular hairs. The flowers are white to pink, often with small red spots on the upper three petals; they are produced in late spring to early summer."

Hello Chris,
A nice study in tones and textures; the whole has a great harmony to my mind. The point of view is well chosen with the splashes of colour making a diagonal line across the frame. Very good natural colours and fine clarity.

a beautiful sring composition, with nice colors and good light.
Do you know that every year, in spring, we adorn the monumental staircase of Spagna square, in Rome, with many azalea flowers? It is a marvellous show that you can see in shot posted from some TE frindes.

Hi Chris,
While some may dread the sight of those pieces of cut timber but I thought that a careful selection and its inclusion add some originality to the scene. The rich array of colours make the place very interesting and attractive. Well done!!
