Photographer’s Note
...5:30pm, just finished cooking dinner for my wife but she's not home yet. I've recently given up smoking, I'm itching for something...what to do? I need to take photos, can't think about that cigarette. Gotta go, gotta go....
Threw on my helmet and rode to the nearest scenic sight by the coast. Hopped off the bike and started trekking down the rocky slopes. The clouds look interesting but it's also drizzling...that won't stop me, I've got a D2x it's tough enough...keep moving. Ah finally, here I am. The light just about gone, my tripod set up, polarizer filter on...snap!
In case you're freaking out about the darkish matter under the water...it's seaweed. And the colours were wild like you see here because of the time of day.

This photo looks good , but unreal. It seems that you use too much noise cleaning, but in whole that just enhance surreal mood of photo.

Hi Bennett,
It looks quite surreal....like from another planet. The slow shutter speed has created an interesting water, and the colours are amazing. The bridge just gives the image some human interest, and the detail in the rocks fantastic.
Overall a really good photo. Cheers Grant

Hi Bennet
This becomes an unnatural scene this way. Yo have done quit some editing here. Perhaps even to much for me. I like the effect and the compo and colours though.
greetings Albrecht

Hi Bennett,
What you did with this photo is brilliant. It is unrealistic but I thought.. ah well, still in all a pretty excellent effort. The composition is great.
Cheers Caressa

Hello Bennett,
the most unrealistic thing about this picture is total lack of people, for they are usually all over the place...how did you achieve that? :)
The sky looks real, but I really don't remember rocks being sooo bright...
Anyway, this is one spectacular scene.
Well done, thanks for sharing!

Like your composition. It contrasts the sharpness of the rocks and bridge, as compared to the "milkiness" of the water. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my God... ok. Hm. Umm...
Surreal. Disturbing. Beautiful. Odd. Unreal. Dreamy. Science fiction. Disneyland. Apocalypse.
But so... beautiful.
It's... beyond words, really.
The kind of shot you just stare at and let your mind unravel at. So much detail to look at and such contradictory textures, colours, feelings.
That bridge.
It's what makes as much as breaks the image for me. Without it we lose the tension that builds. With it I'm annoyed at how it makes the rocks look like artificial Disneyland creations. Of course the colours have their part to play in the whole. Too perfect perhaps?
The construction that stretches from the bridge onto the island reminds me of the countless rides one can find in theme parks and hence makes the rock look like yet another human creation. And then the colour of the bridge that seems to match the water. Ah, it's all too much but still so... enchanting.
I love the texture of the water, as if we'd become frozen in a timeless space while time keeps on running into the future. Of course I've seen it done before, but here the colours give it that sci-fi feel. And those darker areas under the water remind me of surface...
A puzzling but truly brilliant capture.
Thanks for sharing!
All the best,
Julia
