Photographer’s Note
This is my first impression of Gwangju city.
It was lucky that I left the train not at the west or north but south station.
This seemed the best way to see the old town, then the new city.
Old book stores, coffee houses, kim'pap and Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall are some of my recollections.
Nobody knew what happens after 7 years.

I liked your 1st shot of Korea from 1973, as the fashions looked old and 'strange' and it was odd not seeing a proper road on which the people were walking on. If i compare a street scene from Korea today to a street scene from England they're similar (ist world countries) but back then it looked 3rd world. But with this one i couldn't tell if it was 1973 or 2006 if you hadn't told me. Any chance of more photographs of the people of 1973?
