This is how most of the high rise building in Seoul are washed. If you look closely you will notice they are only attached to one line. This not the normal safety standard for roped access work. But they have everything they need to do the job with them: a rope, scrub brush, soap, and a hose.

Very good capture. I love your composition and the placement of the different workers. Very well done, thanks for sharing!
conneally (105) 2007-05-08 4:03
i enjoy everyday moments captured - here action that from your description must be occuring each and every day across Seoul - just another day at work for the workers - ordinary moments when shared back (and so well here) become extraordinary

bonjour benjamin, tres impressionnante photo, ces hommes n ont pas le vertige, often they are indian from north america , tres bonne composition avec toutes ces lignes et angle

Amazing close-up Benjamin, compliments, you have good eyes and this image is really good, well done.
edytungkal (4551) 2007-05-08 4:24
I like you have always captured the daily life activity, and this one I like it a lot.
But I thought there are too many subject in this picture. It's better to crop the two workers on the right and focus the four workers on the left. I have made a little w/s just want to compare the different, hope you don't mind. Anyway very well done and TFS
PeterC (2242) 2007-05-08 4:30
Love this one super work really strong geometry with all those squares and windows. I love the way they are scattered across the frame in their pairs. Very well seen.
stiginthedump (1823) 2007-05-08 4:50
Good shot this Ben. I don't agree with the workshop. I like being able to see all of the men scattered over the face of the building, although I'd have preferred it if you'd included more of the building (if possible). As it's quite common for cleaning/construction companies to skip safety regulations in order to save a buck or to (in Korea), how much would it actually cost to improve their safety? Are we talking a little bit or a lot (I'm assuming you know due to your love of climbing)?
vincz (19113) 2007-05-08 5:02
Wow... very impressive shot, very well captured. I just wonder where YOU were standing!
thea0211 (1365) 2007-05-08 5:34
and this is another story on how little, we, as human beings can be. nice close-up of this activity - well seen and captured!
nbj (2095) 2007-05-08 5:40
sharp, interesting, great composition.
Greg1949 (9011) 2007-05-08 5:51
Fantastic shot Ben! I see this all the time but never that can be photographed in any way that would make it look dangerous, you did a great job at this.
How high up were they?
cuneyt-sb (6559) 2007-05-08 9:25
You captured those man in very good POV and this capture has a very good compo.
Clear and sharp image.

Hi, Ben. What a chore this must be. Cleaning such a big surface attached to a small rope. But it seems to be efficient. The contrast is good here thanks to the white wall and the cleaners are well placed in the composition.
teutza (10590) 2007-05-08 12:34
that;s some work in action there:)
good catch!this would be interesting to see..how high are they ?:D
flory (4848) 2007-05-08 13:11
dangerous job...but,nice,always in top.:).like the way you captured, between those lines and windows, created an interesting geommetry..
Silvio1953 (120566) 2007-05-08 14:32
Hi Benjamin, vertigo photo!, lovely composition with great perspective, very well done, ciao Silvio
CliffW (2377) 2007-05-08 14:35
This is wonderful. People placed at random around on a grid. Something you don't see everyday, yet taken of an everyday situation. The limited color palatte on the building helps bring these spots of color on the people to life.
AmiBe (6042) 2007-05-08 18:00
It's a very impressive scene for me. I wouldn't do this job even for 1 mio $ (ok, we can discuss)
I really enjoy this shot... from my seat.
Marcelo_Almeida (1044) 2007-05-08 18:33
Fiquei com vertigem só de olhar a foto, esse é realmente um trabalho que eu nunca faria, mas que dá uma bela foto.
jinju (14265) 2007-05-09 0:44
The workshop in my opionion is not good. The good thing here are those two guys up there. I would like to see this without the corner, though I know that angle was impossible.
gary91 (15348) 2007-05-09 2:04
First of all a very graphical image with these people spread among the building squares. Then when you look at how these people are working, you just feel frightened for them. From what I see, they don't seem to wear a harness...
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian
Graal (96760) 2007-05-09 2:26
amazing view, good captured theme, well quality of photo. I like the colours and composition also. You had fine POV. Well done.
chrisnet (21092) 2007-05-09 4:35
Very impressive view, I like the position of the men at work and the good symetry, very well seen and done.
ChrisJ (96610) 2007-05-09 7:24
A pleasant surprise to find a colour image on opening the apparent b&w thumbnail. Spiderman eat your heart out! Fantastic pov with superb sharpness. Tfs!
brevbrev14 (140) 2007-05-09 8:50
Hi Ben, a beautiful image!!!
the graphic impact is strong as the result!
i love the position of the men at work!
great compo too...!
....so dangerous for the workers!!
vapours (8264) 2007-05-09 8:52
Quite a crazy shot of these men at work, the random placement adds to the whole feel to it. Think it may have worked better however if it were just the wall on the right, taken from more of a front on position, but realise it may have not been possible.
pboehringer (770) 2007-05-09 10:28
You missed certainly on eimprotatn element in your note, Benjamin. If you provide me with a rope, srub brush, soap and a hose I still wouldn't be able to do this. It needs courage or carelessness or desesperation ... or something else. I don't know.
The image is really very good and interesting that you got so many of these workers into a single photography. Usually I see just a single but the crowd makes it special.
quetzal (3467) 2007-05-09 14:16
Extraordinaire photo. On dirait une fourmillière en pleine acivité. Ces hommes sont très courageux et n'ont pas le vertige. Magnifique composition.
derek3755 (2341) 2007-05-09 18:13
Great Shot! Well Senn and Well Photographed!
siolaw (38274) 2007-05-09 23:16
That is a nice compo of these many building cleaners, with great sharpness and clarity, good POV at same level as them, and nice exposure!
banyanman (7789) 2007-05-10 9:42
I've seen many high-rise window cleaners, Ben, but I think this is the first time I've seen people cleaning a building facade like this. Not a job I'd like to do. The only problem with a tight shot like this is that it doesn't show us how high they are. But still a good image as you've composed it. Cheers . . . David
paura (47166) 2007-05-10 15:28
Interesting composition here. Amazing how they can do that. Very nice shot.
batalay (35367) 2007-05-11 8:50
Astonishing photo of human flies. Very good perpective, impecable exposure. I like the imaginative title as well, although another possibility would be an exclamation mark (!).
Warm regards from 12 or 13 hours behind you in time zone.
riclopes (35577) 2007-05-11 12:40
Olá Ben, I like this series, but I think you are not taking the best vantage of the situation, regarding your last posts. The sensation of seeing these spidermen hanged is great and also the graphism of the façade can give nice compositions. Your POV is fantastic. The right side is what attract me more: white background and some lines - the simpler the better, imo. Good shot here.
Estaban (832) 2007-05-11 13:00
Fantastic shot. Somehow the building looks as if covered with net and men hanging on it like spider at work. These guys really have to have nerves to work on that height.
Best wishes, Wojtek
jaywalker (16095) 2007-05-11 15:52
Hi Benjamin, A wonderful daily action shot, the placement of the workers could not be better & the different clothes each are wearing stands out beautifully against the white background, sharp & interesting, I just hope one of them dose not drop his wash cloth, kind regards Wilson.
sadeik (3268) 2007-05-12 14:48
Hey I really admire this photo, loads of interest and a very interesting shot, never seen so many window cleaners in one spot
molla (7127) 2007-05-20 10:37
You'v got an hole army of spidermen.
I like all the lines and the way they'l correspond with the facade.

Very interesting picture. It's somehow unexpected to see this. What a daily life!
zeca (19762) 2007-05-23 21:28
Very nice action in the daily life capture! I like the subject and the graphism is also good! Its nice to see so many workers in different positions. Very nice!
balatrek (7455) 2007-05-27 3:33
Interesting composition with a great visual impact, I have never seen a scene thus, you have captured a moment decisive, simple and daily but of great creativity. Thanks to share.
mdetay (4865) 2007-05-27 5:22
You have such a gallery now.
Cheers from the south of France.
ekinokswest (2994) 2007-06-04 19:21
good explanation. Also I notice you took the photo from another high building, the town must be generally full of such buildings. The photo is also good example to set out people s life and working standards
vincent24 (9060) 2007-06-07 5:30
The best of the serie for me...strong composition well balanced with a great graphical impact, very impressive...not a job for me ;-)
pasternak (15181) 2007-11-03 1:00
This is so nice, Benjamin, great "framing" for these cleaners with the squares of the building, good to have here two intersecting planes as well, and different number of workers on both of them. Really a great shot.
xramm (1831) 2010-08-05 7:59
Wow ! how did you catch this event!
Very good composition indeed.
Bournazel (0) 2011-02-24 13:47
Fantastic shot Benjamin
These workers seem to dance a ballet on this wall !!
