Photographer’s Note

This is the first view that most arrivals get of Baengnyeongdo (Island). Taken from the concrete pier, where the big catamarans arrive & depart, to & from Incheon on the mainland of the Korean Peninsula.

"Baengnyeong Island (sometimes spelled Baekryeong) is an island in Ongjin County, Incheon, South Korea located near the Northern Limit Line, which is the maritime demarcation between North and South Korea. It lies at 37°58′N 124°39′E / 37.967°N 124.65°E / 37.967; 124.65.

The meaning of its name is "white wing island", since the island resembles an Ibis flying with the wings spread.[1]

Numerous North Korean defectors have boated here to escape economic and political conditions in their homeland."

Hello Chris,
A very pleasing composition with good light and colours. I like the framing with the foreground rocks; whilst the interesting sky contributes to the mood. Very good sharpness.

Hello Chris,

I never thought of SK as having such beautiful ocean views. The water make this image look almost tropical. Good point of view and details. The soft clouds complement the view well. Thanks Chris.

Hi Chris,

The curve of the rocky beach is an asset to the composition. The point of view is showing the deatils and colors of the cliff, it is also taking our eyes toward the horixon which is giving depth to the composition. It is clear and sharp. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

It looks like an idyllic place, although not easy to wade into the sea to go for a swim with the rocks visible beneath the clear water. Excellent depth with the fg rocks as sharp as those of the cliff.
