Simcheonggak Pavilion on the north east coast of Baengnyeongdo Island. That's the North Korean coast at right, just 12 km away. "To publicize Baengnyeongdo Island, as the setting for the story of Sim Cheong, Simcheonggak Pavilion was built in a location where visitors can see Idangsu and Yeonbongbawi Rock, the latter being a spot from which Sim Cheong jumped into the sea, to restore her blind father's eyesight." (A famous Korean folk tale).

Great shot, has a good perspective. The colors too are very good.

Wonderful architecture; very colourful. The perspective composition works well showing two facades of the building. It was a good idea to include the people for scale. The building is bigger than it looks at first sight.

Interesting example of oriental architecture.
Well chosen POV to give us the best view of the pavilion.
pierrefonds (55250) 2009-09-14 15:38
The 3/4 view is allowing us to see the details and colors of two sides of the pavillion. The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The light seem to strong, it does not affect the colors of the pavillion but the grasa seem to be yellow-green. Have a nice day.

A good angle to appreciate the depth as well as the architecture of the building. Wonderful colours.
I'm glad you included some people as my whole perception of scale altered when I saw them!

I love the architecture of those oriental temples!
Their shapes and colors are always magnificent!
Your picture is excellent, with a simple but pretty effective composition, soft lights and colors, very good sharpness!

un pavillon chinois qui flashe bien a l'écran avec ces couleurs, une cadrage centré pour le mettre encore plus en valeur

A very beautiful architecture and I hope that the stone is proportional to the size of this pavilion !!! Good management of the colors and the light emphasizing the composition well. Pretty and interesting glance just like your note, thank you Chris.

The finer ornamental details in the architecture are well reproduced, sharp and colourful!
Effective point of view and the framing presents the building nicely...
Inclusion of humans provides good scaling!
denisn72 (8300) 2009-09-17 15:03
The point of view is well chosen to show all the beauty of this pavillion. Nice colours and crispy sharpness. The light is very good too. Asian archirecture is really particular. Good work and thanks for sharing.

ce pavillon est très beau, belle architecture, belles couleurs.
Angshu (54917) 2009-09-21 3:16
Nice colourful pavilion here. The light seems to have been harsh & hence you did some exposure correction. When we see the people, we can realise that the building is bigger than what appears at first glance.
