The Spiral Staircase, a photo from Gyeongsangbukdo, North

Photographer's Note

A very unusual part of the walkway, leading from the lighthouse, to Jeodong town, along the cliffs of this rocky volcanic shore, where the terrain plunges straight down into the sea. From memory, I think the stairs are 57 metres.

Ulleunggo Volcano is about 75 miles off the east coast of South Korea, & last erupted over 9,350 years ago, with a force equivalent to Pinatubo, in the Philippines, in 1991.

You can always find a beauty after a great volcanic eruption. Love the composition here, the diminishing spiral stairs in the foreground is well place with a backdrop of bridge from a distant. Well done Chris.

Very impressive spiral stair and you captured it from a good high POV. The beautiful turquoise color of the sea is amazing. Good construction with the narrow bridges around the cliffs. Very well captured.

a good choice of vertical framing and the spiral staircase gives a strong visual impact to the FG. The bridge is adding a sense of distance and I like the turquoise color of the water.

Hi Chris, I would not have thought of taking this photo but opening it was a surprise ; amazing how people have managed to make a sort of path with such a difficult coastline... In fact, the photo is really nice with the details seen in the sea and the various colours, compliments !
