Photographer’s Note

This is the area along the stream that runs through the city. Most of what you see here is apartments. I think I am finally starting to figuer out the circular polarizer, this is as shot but for some USM.

Today is the first day of blue sky in more than 6 weeks and boy were my spirits lifted just to be able to get out in some sunlight.

Please do comment on this shot, especially if there are pearls or techniques that I am not yet using or not doing properly.

very nice POV. I like the contrast between the blue sky and the architectures. The inlcusion of the river is another good point. Good work!

the blocks against the terrific blue sky make a good compo along with the river on the foreground i think... vivid colours add to the charm... and the cables are hardly visible, that helps a lot too :)... good job i think, congrats greg...

Hi Greg,
What wonderful vivid blue sky with its intricate cloud patterns. The grey high rises contrast beautifully with the blue sky and sliver river. The vibrant green framing the river is another fine element to this gem.

Good lead-in by the river dominating the foreground, impressive sky with fine fluffy clouds...

Wow! I remember this spot. The blue sky looks so nice. This is a great shot, only wish mine would have turned out this good :) I was amazed by all the apartment buildings in this city.

Hi Greg. Wide angle lens, polarizer and fluffy white clouds are a great combination. I’m just rediscovering polarizes as well, great toys and about the only filter you can’t replicate in Photoshop. Great photo. The river is well placed to add depth. Good colour and detail also. Thanks for sharing.

You chose a excellent angle, this gives a very nice perspective and depth through the long river.
Also the skyscrapers are a nice contrast against the splendid clouds at the sky.

Hi Greg = indeed the clarity of the air is very very unusual for an asian metropolis, the buildings themselves are not much to look at, but they are redeemed by the clouds, the river and distant mountains, too bad about the cables spanning the river.

Great POV as always. You really have en eye for the best shots. Nice contrast between the clouds and the skyline. I like the way the river looks like it's a road out of town.

Greg, the composition is good. The river leading diagonally into your shot provides good depth and that is very important to create some dimension. The polarizer did exactly what it should. Giving that nice profound blue and popping up the clouds as popcorns. Everything looks on spot, the only detail might be the low f/ stop giving a rather soft impression. Latter is my personal taste and others will think certainly quite different about it.

Hello Greg
It is a good photo reflecting lifestyles and nature of the town. It reflects lifestyles because of the construction we witness on this photo. Just like here in Turkey, living in apartments like this explains the big presence of middle income people.
Also, it may not be discovered by many viewers yet this is important; the several traffic signs that are blue has a very similar color tone with that of the sky(part left above the clouds) . The river looks polluted or not lively at all , as the color supports this theory. It is not a bad aspect yet it takes the attention of the viewer greatly
