Daegu at Dusk Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is just after sunset, the sky was a rich blue and the clouds could be seen but everything else seemend to think it was night.

Daegu is a large place, more than 2.5 million people and sometimes the blanket of night helps quiet the screaming of unplanned urbanization and ugly buildings. The din of the traffic is never blanketed though, the best thing for that noise is ear plugs or Mr. Bose's magical noise canceling ear phones.

Hello Greg,
Good night/dusk photo of the noisy and chaotic city. It seems like you could use some time out in the country. I am an amateur astronomer and I have a photographer's love of city lighting (for photographs) and an astronomer's hate of urban light pollution. Even in Denver I need to get thirty miles from the city to get darks skies. Good job of metering for this dusk shot.

I see a big city, but above all, magnificent light and sky. Mainly two kind of lights cold blue, and warm orange. Great framing, and great definition in spite the lack of light.

This brings back fond memories of my "hometown" in Korea. Great view. Spot on with the exposure. Woo Bong tower is prominent under the soft clouds. Well done.

Hi Greg - wow, the usual unsightly asian concrete sprawl, but it somehow manages to look beautiful under these conditions, the clouds are ideally placed to fill the sky, this would not have been as appealing under an empty sky.

Perfect depth with those clouds at the last light of the day...wonderful.

Very nice composition. The warm forground colors versus the cool background colors make for an awesome shot. Good focal point with the tower in the center and good FOD.

Beautiful night shot with all the lights and the buildings making a very interesting rendering. Indeed the clours of the sky are very nice and make a nice 'roof' to your photo, with this almost unreal colours.

One interesting facet of this picture is, imho that, it very successfully breaks that silly "rule of thirds" regarding the horizon. Here you favor the sky over the land just a bit, but it is closer to a 50/50 picture with a beautiful sky accompanying a gorgeous night shot of town. Good job, well done.

Hi Greg,
The big city skyline makes a very effective break point to the night blue sky and complimenting yellow lights.
Wonderful sharpness, details and depth to this fine urban effort.
