Photographer’s Note

There are tourists here probably all of the time (this statue attracts approx one million visitors a year), before the grandiose Merlion (icon and mascot creature for Singapore; it has a lion head and a fish body resting on a crest of waves) that has been relocated to One Fullerton in 2003 from its previous location at the Esplanade Bridge.

During the evening the statue is floodlit and water pours from the statue's mouth. It is quite a "roaring" sight.

Facts: The Merlion statue, measuring 8.6 metres high and weighing 70 tonnes, was built by the late Singapore craftsman, Mr Lim Nang Seng. It is made of cement fondue. (goto http://www.visitsingapore.com/merlion/)
