A chestnut roaster (common in many Chinatown's) takes rest form the heat of the weather (always humid in Singapore!) and the heat from roasting chestnuts. Some of the vendors from Bugis moved to places like Chinatown when Bugis changed into drab modern shopping malls. It's nice to see some street vendors still ply their trade in Singapore, as the food is so good.

excellent shot de rue, j'aime ce genre de scène pris sur le vif.
J'aime la posture de ce monsieur.
j'imagine les bonnes odeurs que tu dois sentir en te promenant dans les ruelles.

Hi Justin. I do like the immediacy of your photos as you capture the trials and tribulations (and some pleasures) of urban living. Regards. Klaudio.

Though most of the time your B&W conversions are great choices, I'm glad you chose to keep this one in color, Justin. The red that runs throughout it is so rich under the harsh light, and the yellow at top so bright, that it would be a shame to lose that effect. The man at center is well captured; difficult to say if he's sad or just bored, though I suspect the latter. Great light here; you've really captured the feel of a bright nighttime bulb burning over everything. Thanks!

What a fantastic street life scene executed so perfectly! The man seems to be sleeping in the middle of his shop. Excellent photo! Very well done.
