Photographer’s Note
The title is a quote from The Who's '5:15'. One of the tings I found striking about Singapore on my first trip, was just how many shops there are. It's possible to walk for miles in air conditioned passageways between intereconntected malls, so that sometimes it's quite a surprise to find yourself outside. Even more disconcerting is this area of redeveloped streets around Bugis Street, where the original colonial facades have been retained, and streets roofed in, so that can walk around apparantly normal streets in a controlled environment. It's possible to forget that you're inside unless you look up, or remember how cool it is.

I like the colors on your photo strengthtening the impression of repetitive diagonal structure. Are those objects beneath the roof lamps ?

Funny idea with the title ... and good composition. Strange effect with all the windows not completly open.

THis si agreat idea for hot countries, I wish that we could adopt it and do the same in Isreal. A very good angle and nice colors. I likethe sign "Shugar". Good shot, Richard.

incredible! it could just as well be the covent garden covered market or any place in the world! nice shot!
I guess this is what globalization brings in .. not sure it is the best of it though for our world! I 'd rather have a world where people strive on their differences rather than annihilate them... this is a large complicated issue!
great shot anyway Richard!

Hi Richard & Seasons Greetings!
I like the strong diagonal, which enhances the composition considerably. Excellent use of repetition, & you've been lucky enough to catch a time of day when nearly all the windows are open. It makes a big difference to the mood. Good shot!

Very well seen! I like the way the old merges with the new. Sometimes, we in Singapore look at these things so much that we dont see the connection anymore. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Richard.
Nice pastel colors but what I like most here is the compo. Good POV and nice play of shadow as it added depth into this picture.

Very interesting topic, Richard. At first sight it looked like an "ordinary" glass-roofed market hall like we can see it in many a place in the world, but to have whole streets roofed in is quite something. A good diagonal perspective you accomplished, as well as a nice repetition with the shades, glass roof and shop roofs at the bottom. Great idea to pull this line from the Who song as a title. Well done.

What a great and strong prespective with a nice managing it as a digonal form, and a blue, yellow cast which is very beautiful tone together, very nicly seen and very well composed, with good use of the pattern of the doors/widows and repetition I like it Richard, nicely done.
