Remember ABBA's old Song "Tiger"?
Back to much simpler photos, back to Singapore and back to the Past, to January of 2002 :-)
It is a scanned image from a film.
This is one of many photos which I took in "Haw Par Villa" (formerly called Tiger Balm Gardens).
This is a scene from Chinese folklore, and it is just a bit of what you can see in this park.
Unfortunately I do not know what exactly this tiger symbolizes in this park, but according to Chinese calendar the year 2010 is the year of the Tiger!
Happy New Year to those who celebrates it! :)
PP work: very minor adjustment of levels, shadows and mid-tones; some noise (+ dust & scratch) removal.
The park's colorful collection of over 1,000 statues and 150 giant tableaux centered around Chinese folklore, legends, history, and Confucian ideology.
"Haw Par Villa" was originally constructed in 1937 by "Tiger Balm King" Aw Boon Haw as a grand residence for his younger brother, Aw Boon Par, who helped create their fortune with the analgesic balm.
In English, Haw Par Villa translates as Villa of the Tiger and Leopard.
The park was renamed Haw Par Villa in 1985 and re-opened in 1990, when it was converted into an amusement park and promoted with the name "Dragon World".
25 clusters of original statues and figurines replicate Chinese mythology characters like the Laughing Buddha and the Fu Lu Shou (Taoist deities).
A must-see exhibit is the Ten Courts of Hell, featuring the ten steps of judgement before reincarnation.

Zdravo Elena. Brings back memories of my first trip to Asia and my visit to the park. And I do remember the scenes from Hell- such torture scenes which only the human mind can manufacture. Nice light and colour here. The tiger doesn't look too ferocious, actually he looks troubled. Regards. Klaudio.

This image is very much to my liking since I am a great supporter of Chinese wisdom and traditions! This is a very well composed and wonderful impression of this melancholic tiger (I do not agree to Klaudio!). The colors and the overall aura are fascinating. It is this amazing green and the beautiful light that makes the image very attractive. TFS and a happy New Year to you!

A very nice animal! I don´t remember that ABBA song, but I remember another song, "Teach Me Tiger" (but not really who sung it...). Many fine colours here and indeed a pleasant looking beast.

Digitalization is of good quality. This folk image is enough spectacualaire and rather funny. I like the plays of shade and light. Excellent clearness. Cheer.
Have a nice day

A rather funny picture, well scanned. I think this poor tiger looks neither troubled nor melancholy, just artificial ;-)
Anyway a nice detail from this garden and very different from your sophisticated photos from Stockholm.

Such an appropriate find amongst your negative collection! Just over 8 years old - not old compared to many scans which are posted. However it has an old photo feel about it. Colours are perfect and this tiger looks so unreal! Tfs, Marlene

Nice, very nice photo which allows slightly depart from reality. It is as if some elements of the libels of our lives. Nice light, beautiful colors and nice dynamics. The Bengal tiger is very nice and honest, although canine teeth that look as though he was smiling.
