Photographer’s Note

At the airport we were met by my wife's sister and brother-in-law (how lovely it is to be met by someone at airports) and whisked to their spacious apartment at marine Vista, all the way up on the 14th floor. Every time I looked out from the balcony or the corridor that provides the lifts, I could see the sea and sky in their various moods.
The tankers we saw all lined up and moored, were the signs of the economic downturn, since trade has slowed down dramatically. I have been told that to moor one's ship in Singapore's waters is relatively cheap. So many tankers are operating with skeleton crews, having sent their full crew home for the time being. Later on I shall post a photo of these ships at night, all lit up, stretching along the horizon line, waiting like a file of glowworms.
