A view of Singapore and its busy port, taken from the North East point of Sentosa Island.
We spent a few months in that area and really enjoyed the morning walks around this island, made for the very rich Singaporean and expats.
Don't expect to find a house there, for under a million dollar.
We where based at the luxurious Marina One 15 (on Sentosa)and it was a luck that they accepted us, little poor yachties, and for a very reasonable fee, when we think that to be a member at this marina, will cost you over $30,000 and you will have to pay for the docking fee on top of that...for visitors it was only under $20 per day.
This was also the year I decided to use a film medium format camera and I started with a Mamyia 6x4.5 Pro TL. The negatives are almost tree times the size of a 35mm and will allow to enlarge to very big prints.
It was a great camera and very much fun to use, but the big disadvantage was it's size. Add to this that I was also carrying a DSLR+lenses and you will understand that I needed a lighter model...
Here I used Fuji Velvia 100 transparency (slide film) and a sturdy tripod...

Original view of Singapore and rendered very attractive thanks to the leaning palm trees which highlight the fact that it's a tropical country. The warm light on the trees is very attractive and contrasts with the cold blue of the sea.

That's an excellent composition, the palm trees coming into the left of frame look gorgeous. Good balance too, the frame sits well to the eye.
What is it with photographing palm trees, for some reason they always (well mine do) look like they have been over sharpened, it must be the sharp edges of the fronds and the way the light hit them at different angles.
Love the saturated colour, more the better I say.
Medium format eh, it shows, the image quality is superb.

Well, this is my fav city so far. It's a pity I have only film shots from my visit to this beautiful place. Your pic is amazing. Unlike the case with the palm fronds in your Vanuatu shot here I wish there were no that monstrous cargo ship emitting black smoke and blocking the view of half the city. But I guess you'd have had to wait forever for it to go away, so not much of a choice... Gorgeous colors and the sky.
