To continue a Singapore series, here is a morning sun over the Singapore Strait.
It was taken from the extreme east point of Santosa Island.
I was using a tripod and shutter cable, waiting for the little fishing boat to cross the sun reflection on the water.
I exposed for the sky and new the foreground was going to be dark.
In 2007, while in Penang, my wife Vicki, was diagnosed with lymphoma and we had to sail back to Singapore, where she would receive the best cancer treatment of South East Asia.
During her 4 month treatment, we took long morning walks and it was a good occasion for me to practice photography.
Thanks to the superb medical treatment in Singapore, she is now in complete remission and our sailing has resumed as if nothing happened.
I have an A3 print (13x19 inch), at home and it represents a new beginning for us...

I'm the 70th to view and only the 2nd to say a word on this wonderful photo. Do you know that sunset/sunrise pics are considered trivial and not worth paying attention to here? I think it's strange as I find these moments the most beautiful of all that mother nature treats us to.
I absolutely love the colors in your shot and the black contrasting palm-tree. The boat in the sun reminds me my own attempt at catching it in the same position in Slovenia. I succeeded but the shot itself didn't come out well so I posted another one with the boat out of the sun.
Sorry to read the sad note to such a stunning picture.
Wish all the best to your wife and family, and many years of happy sailing to come:)

Hello Michel, that's a mesmerising sunrise photo with the wonderful colours of early morning. The boat is just on the right place, below the rising sun. The palm tree on the middle-right adds exotism to your photo.
Having read your note, I hope the treatment went well and everything is under control. In my opinion, it is not only the hospital and skilled doctors but also such early morning strolls help the recovery.
Warm regards, Tolga

The world is indeed wonderful, nice writing there Michel. Glad to learn your wife can continue enjoying the rest of the world.
Your photo represent the beauty, the silhouette, the composition the boat and the sunset was well taken. Nice choice on vertical frame..

Hi Michel. Glad to hear that this joyful and colourful scene corresponds with the good news. Beautiful colours full of vibrancy. The silhouetted palm complements the tropical mood. regards. Klaudio.
