Photographer’s Note
Having just got back from Canada 2 days prior, I was severely jetlagged and found myself awake at 5am on a Saturday Morning. Good excuse as any to get some morning light shots.
This photo was taken across the street from "The Fullerton Hotel", at "No. 1 Fullerton".
Night was slowly turning to day, and there was a fine mist of rain which I was hoping wouldn't ruin my morning out. I liked the way the lights bounced off the wet granite and and lead the eye to the building (which I think is some sort of control room?), as well as the fact the sky was turning blue..
I hope you like it...

Hi Dan - I just saw your profile and I noticed that you are from Port Alberni - I was also born and raised in Port Alberni. Small world, isn't it! You've got an interesting photo here. I like the reflection off the wet pavement, which really shows the great texture on the ground. I like the blue tone to the picture also. Well done!

Hi Dan
It was well worth the early morning stroll! Perfect exposure and a really striking shot. I love the way the texture of the granite is emphasised by the light...very, very eye-catching. Well captured!

Good moment, Dan! As you said, the reflected lights DID lead the eye toward the control room..good contrast and low POV also!

Hi Dan,
This is quite a remarkable shot. The lighting on the damp pavement is exquisite and you have made the building come to life as if in some mysterious sci fi fantasy. The railing on the left provides ideal balance for the shot, and the sky is great. A most successful shot - now I know what to do when jetlagged.

Hey Dan, There are some benefits of jet lag then! I love the two main colours at work here, the blue and the white(ish). I especially like how the wet ground has created the shine on the ground.
interesting shot especially because its not really obvoius what it is, yet it is lit quite well.
Well done

This is an impressive composition, Dan. Great lighting and sharpness, and I love the metallic colours - the wet granite almost looks like metal. You have a good eye for unusual subjects - most people would walk past this never thinking to photograph it. Cheers . . . David
