Russian cliché, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

I came back yesterday evening from a business trip in Russia. What an amazing country!
A trip full of events and emotions:
Monday: car accident followed by 2 hours paperwork and negotiation with the militia
Tuesday: liquid business lunch ie a vodka round before each of the 5 dishes
Wednesday: surprise face to face with the russian police special forces with black hoods in the factory of my client. They rushed in the factory and lined up all the staff, hands in the air, in order to find any illegal immigrant. Unfortunately, no photo of that as my priority was my safety rather than having a unique picture on TE gallery!
Back to more quiet moments, this is the so famous St Basil's cathedral on the Red Square on a clear sky of a very wet sunday.
During the soviet times, the church was closed and the bells confiscated. Religious services started again in 1991, but only on important days.

Plutôt mouvementée ton expédition en Russie. Tu nous ramènes un beau cliché nocturne de cette très belle et très célèbre église que je n'avais pu voir que de l'extérieur voilà une dizaine d'années. Je ne sais pas si l'accès est libre actuellement.

Bonsoir Estelle,

Tous mes voeux pour avoir survécu à ces intenses émotions... Ton "cliché" me fait complètement oublier qu'il a été pris avec un appareil aujourd'hui ridicule, par rapport à des modèles plus modernes; entre autre dans les sensibilités élevées... C'est superbe et parfaitement cadré!
Plus je regarde les deux filles du premier plan, moins je comprend ce qu'elles sont en train de faire... ;-)

Bonjour Estelle

Jacques (Jafadabret) avait présenté également cette cathédrale, mais elle me sidère toujours autant !
Incroyable dans son architecture, dans ses formes, dans ses couleurs... C'est Disneyland à Moscou, le monde à l'envers !
Très belle présentation de cet édifice étonnant et de sa place animée.
Merci pour le récit de voyage, qui fait sourire quand on n'est pas concernés ;o)

Cliche or not, i like the final result and presenatation. An image i would like to make myself one day. A famous building, presented by you in a very beautiful way. Great sharpness and details...a real good one. No need for the a blue hour here, the building it self is the star of the show...wonderful.

I was pleased to hear from you again and am pleased that I visited your site! I feel I need a more in depth description of what went on in Russia! It sounds like something from James Bond!

What wonderful buildings! They are so colourful! They appear like some enormous, iced cake, covered with decorations!
Although the people are slightly out of focus (not that important, perhaps a bigger F stop needed) they do give sense of perpsective and scale. You have done really well for a shot taken at night.

ça serait encore mieux si les lampadaires faisaient des étoiles... alors je n'ai pas l'appareil adapté, et donc je suis loin d'être un spécialiste, mais de ce que j'ai compris tu devrais faire une pause plus longue avec un F/stop plus élevé... sinon tout le reste (ce qui représente 99% de l'image) est d'excellente qualité, un rendu superbe de cette belle pièce montée (chaque fois que je vois cet édifice je pense à un dessert!)

Mouvementés les voyages en Russie lol Heureusement que tu as pu profiter de quelques instants plaisants, et j'imagine que contempler cette étonnante cathédrale en fait partie. C'est sans doute un des bâtiment les plus étonnants du monde. Son côté "jouets" contraste avec son usage religieux. Excellente photo en tout cas, couleurs superbes et excellente netteté sur la cathédrale.

An excellent nightshot of Saint Basil's Cathedral, captured it with a nice angle that put the tourists expertly with moderate telephoto. It's interesting to seem to be just like an amusement park.

Un voyage plein de péripéties il me semble!
Dans ce cas, on est d'autant plus content de revenir à la maison;-)
La photo que tu nous présentes est vraiment très belle, parfaitement nette. C'est la deuxième fois que je vois cette cathédrale et je me fais encore la réflexion qu'on dirait une sucrerie, ou encore qu'elle fait partie d'un dessin animé.

je vois que ce voyage a été mouvementé,et j'ai bien ri àla lecture de ta note!Ce monument vu maintes et maintes fois est une véritable splendeur,je pense qu'on ne peut jamais se lasser de le regarder!Je crois que le voir dans la nuit noire réhausse sa beauté,car ses couleurs se détachent encore mieux!Magnifique!

J'ai eu l'occasion en juin de voir cette merveille de nuit et j'en ai eu le souffle coupé. Ta photo restitue bien l'atmosphère bien particulière de ces lieux. Belles couleurs et belle maitrise de la lumière.

As for the way business is made in Russia... this is the usual (I would say "ordinary, regular") practice. I am not surprised at all to read about this in your note.

It may be a cliché, but it's a lovely one. That building is really an architectural jewel of the world. I would love to see this one with a smaller aperture and a longer exposure to blur every person. They distract a little from the main subject. But your exposure is really good.

En lisant ta note je constate que ça ne plaisante pas là-bas !!! Très belle mise en valeur de ces gros "cornets de glace", l'entretien de cette superbe église ne doit pas être un mince affaire... Cadrage parfait et belle gestion des lumière. Bonne et intéressante photo nocturne, merci Estelle.

Comme beaucoup, j'ai été attiré par les couleurs des dômes se détachant dans ce ciel d'encre.
Une image qui ressort de ta galerie. très bonne netteté. Bonne gestion des couleurs nocturnes.
