This is my first shot from my homeland!
I was hanging around Kazan with
a friend whom I hadn't seen for many years
when we decided to take a trip by metro (subway, underground)
that has recently opened in this milennial city.
The station Ametyevo (a second of five stations)
has a peculiar entrance.
First, you enter a glass pavilion
and then there are a couple of stairs down
that lead you into a glass-covered tunnel over a highway
and then into the hill.
I was lucky to capture this astounding pattern
when there only were four silhouettes in the frame
arranged to enhance the perspective.
My vantage point was really successful:
I was at the top of the stairs
so that I could shoot from above
and into the tunnel at the same time.
The tilt and the asymetry are serious contributions
to the composition to say nothing about the placement
of the lonely shape in the distance.
Had she walked on the left
the impression wouldn't be so strong.
I was really lucky to make this shot:
a fifth person entered the frame
so I had clone out his/her arm.
The series of shots I made after this
first shot is not impressing at all:
you'd say they are interesting but
there are too many elements.
By the way: the post processing
was the unavoidable minimum:
resizing to TE standards and cloning out
the disturbing arm that got onto the frame by chance.
I thought of colour adjustment, sharpening,
cropping, rotating but gave up all these ideas.

perfect perspective, perfect backlight. You captured the moment...and I like also your philosophy to do only the minimum in postprocessing.

congratulation ,the perspective is atractive in every way

Les lignes de perspective sont bien réalisées.
delnaja (2054) 2008-08-20 14:33
excellent. The perspective and the shadows. Very beautiful.
nimish23 (144) 2008-08-21 11:26
a very charming shot involving light and shadows. the repititions of the shapes really grab ones attention and the moving people add a dynamism to the otherwise static image.

I'm immediately adding this excellent shot to my favorites. Anyone who is into the play of light and shadows, or into graphics would fall in love with this arty, a little surreal shot. congrats.

You have got a marvellous piece of photograph while standing upstairs and wiaithng for her to move a little to the left, whcih didn't happen.......but this doesn't reduce the mystery and the beauty in any way.
The pattren and the shadows make the shot more intersting to watch.
A lot of thanks dear.

Lacework it is...I am impressed by the perspective and the graphism induced by the structure, (must be a very attractive metro). Great timing too. Of course the greenish light brings it all out beautifully. A delightful sight, full of life with those silhouettes, three and one...in strong contrast and so graceful with their shadows. I agree with your philosophy, PP kept to the minimum. There is in my perception also something of the oniric here, something about togetherness and loneliness. Congratulations.!
alvaraalto (5473) 2008-09-27 13:08
Great impressionistic picture with these shadow on the pathway. It looks like the silhouettes of the girls are walking on the glass roof.
Excellent result, my compliments.

Sanırım her fotoğrafçının hayalinde eve böyle bir fotoğrafla dönmek vardır. Lacework tam bir artwork olmuş...

this image is really a work of photographic art. Stupendous game of lights and shades, with a good management of the light. Very pleasant the people's silhouettes in movement. You have done an excellent work. You are good, compliment!

Önde tek başına giden ile arkadan takip eden üç kişinin silüeti ışıklı yolda hoş bir görüntü çıkarmış..

Superb work of lacework! Wonderful composition with all of the elements expertly placed. I especially like the foreground silhouette who are walking while talking.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi

Very excellent perspective and toning on this shoot at the right moment. You have certainly proof one thing to the world now, that a good piece of photo takes a good photographer and not a good camera disregard of its brand.

Tre bien la composition e la lumiere! Aussi les effect de les joue de contraste. Une photo tres originail! Bravo!

An other nice shoot, good idear,Rich idear.
B&w view and perspective good for eyes.
amino (414) 2009-03-08 4:51
Nice! truely minimal with the desaturation, one point perspective. The monotonous shadow motif surrounding the walking silhouetes accentuates the anonymity of those walking ....

This is absolutely amazing, so great composition and wonderful game of lights and shadows... So crazy and great shot - huge congratulations!

Lacework, here you have done a good game of lights and shadows, where the quality of the silhouettes gives the point to it. Looks fun to stay there waiting for the perfect silhouettes to catch.

What a unique image. Great composition and the shadows work well to create a wonderful effect. Well done.
Leconte (5795) 2009-11-24 12:10
Incredible shot that requires a keen eye and quick reaction, you still had to seize the opportunity, dark silhouettes providing a fantasy in the image geometry, metal colors and cold, an atmosphere very interesting.
Nard (6915) 2010-12-04 9:30
Nice composition, well captured. I like the graphical aspect, the people in shadow and this specific light. Good choice for the framing which gives a great dimension to this picture
CLODO (26371) 2010-12-04 11:15
nice and surprising opicture, with the blurred shadows of the roof, and the sharp silhouettes of walking women.

Interesting almost B and W photo of these ladies as if the are going up or down the stairs. Visual illusion?
Nice photographic job,

Hola Ilgiz .......
El efecto visual es muy interesante,
la composición es un buen trabajo de encuadre,
de luz, de contrastes y con el toque humano
de las personas andando por el pasillo del metro,
me gusta mucho el resultado y te felicito.
Saludos desde España.

A fantastic shot indeed dear Ilghiz. The monochorme black-green atmosphere gives a feeling a sci-fi setting, the light and shades just excellent.
Great work !
BennyV (13058) 2010-12-25 2:20
I found this one through your hyperlink in a critique you left, and it's worth clicking through. This is a fine shot indeed. The similiraties with the shot you were writing your critique on are a bit superficial, but who cares? As long as it's fine shots we're being guided to, I don't. Lovely silhouettes and great graphics.
