[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Patriotic War Order, III degree, belonged to my grandfather. He was a soldier in WW II and saw action since 1943 till 1945, started war in St-Petersburg and ended it in Koenigsberg.
Interesting thing that one of his best friends was German, they first met in 1975 on a cruising ship that was going along Volga river to Stalingrad, and to that Western German it was the only chance to see that city, in which he lost his eye in battles of 1942. Well, as my grandfather was the only one on that ship who spoke English, they become quick friends and this friendship lasted till the end of their lives.
But, and this is also quite understandable, they never spoke about WW II. Never.

Tomorrow will be the 63 anniversary of the end of that war, let's hope, bloodiest war in the history of the world.
To all those millions perished 63 years ago, to the valour and bravery and also to the mercy and forgiveness of those who outlived all this.

Hello Uhu,
Lovely story you write. Nice to keep this medal in memory of your Grandfather "The Great Patriotic War Order" medal.
I have a few of this medal, I did not earn.
I liked this one, along with many of Russian War medals. They were all earned by your soldiers in this war.

Thanks for sharing.
Regards to you.
