I primarily post this shot to close my Russian travelogue (I can always add one or two if I decide to), but also as a well-known aspect of trekking the earth. This is the departure lounge at St. Petersburg International Airport (still abbreviated LED for Leningrad more than ten years after the name of the city was changed - I suppose it would be too much of an investment for international aviation to stay in tune with the times).
The time is 5.30 am and the place was very quiet. The first planes were preparing for take-off and the airport was slowly filling up. This young lady was fast asleep - and I hope she didn't miss her plane to wherever she was headed.
Ah, the excitement of travelling.

Nice picture, classic waiting photo.

I like this shot, it certainly is something you see quite often when traveling, although to see only one person in a scene is rare. I have seen those seeats in a number of different airports, interesing how they are found all over. Good lighting here and nice colors, alhtough I think it could use a little sharpening. Good shot.

I'd say there's one or two companies with a monoloply on transport infrastructural seating... you see them world over...
Nice use of leading lines as the chairs grow smaller to the rear with the off-centred girl to break up the regularity. Great inclusion of the sign to give this a real sense of place-- otherwise this could really be anywhere.

Very nice one, Per, and a scene I can very much relate to. Looks like a pretty quiet airport though. Good perspective towards the back, fine repetition from the blue chairs and of course having the girl in it adds exactly the human touch this one needs. Well done. Interesting detail about the still-in-use LED abbreviation in your note, I wouldn't have thought that.

Airport life at its best Per. I like the chairs with strong color centered in an otherwise colorless picture. The girl nicely of center. The different doors in the background are funny, so many kinds of exits.

An interesting waiting pic. May I ask, was there another row of benches behind you? If so I think it would have been interesting to have gone behind them and shot this scene with a vertical frame with the first row being empty, then have her in the second row. That way you'd have more of an alone in an empty room feel, plus you wouldn't have to show that wall in the back (it would look like the benches went on further back).
The person would be smaller sure, but she would be better immersed in her environment.

What a wonderful shot! I love the composition, particularly the rows of blue chairs moving back in space. Her gesture is great and she seems lost in her dreams.I also like that she is the only figure in the composition. Well done!
