The small town of Pushkin 25 kilometers outside St, Petersburg is probably best known for the Catherine Palace which can be found less than one kilometer from this town center. We visited Pushkin several times (our son lives in nearby Pavlovsk) and I was surprised how few tourists cover the short distance from the baroque palace to this typical Russian town, complete with covered market place, small square and this "busy" intersection in the center. The contrast to bustling, noisy, cosmopolitan St. Petersburg where most of the visitors are based couldn't be greater. And the contrast to the palace around the corner is of course also considerable. For those who have yet to go - offer yourself an extra hour and that small walk.
This was typical Russian spring weather: a bit of sun, but with rain on its way.

You have gotten a nice mix of different architecture on one street. Did you notice how the roofs alternate flat, then peaked, then flat... The subdued colours of the buildings make the dark clouds seem even more ominous. Maybe that is why the street is so busy - everyone is scurrying to get to their destination before the rain comes!
The many power lines in the photograph are slightly distracting but then too, maybe they also tell us something more of the town...
Thank you for sharing this little piece of Russia. Thank you for your note as well.

This looks like a lively little town, and quite neat too. The architecture is interesting and the buildings look as if they were freshly painted... It seems that you were standing on a balcony or on something higher than street level and it gives a nice perspective to the street and building.

This looks like a neat Russian town, Per. Good diagonal view of "Main Street", with nice colors provided by the old houses. A very special light you managed to catch, and of course the ominous sky makes a picture-perfect topping. Very nice.

Great Per - I like those dark skyes with a strong sunlight in front - you the colours of those buildings in a very fine way - very fine work indeed and a good documentary.
