Photographer’s Note

London has Oxford Street, Paris has the Champs Elysee, New York has Fifth Avenue - and St. Petersburg has Nevsky Prospekt. The 4 km long avenue where pavements are a little wider, where shops are as expensive as elswhere in the world, where the women are chic and the cafes have tables outside for tourists to take in the "typical" Russian atmosphere. It is also the place where pickpockets operate in hundreds and con-men will try to take tourists for an extra dollar. It is not everything, but it is an important part of modern St. Petersburg - and definitely has its own charm.
I cropped and resized for the web - that's all.

Nice street shot from Nevsky, Per, that offers a lot to look at. Good to see the busy sidewalk (including the girl with the pink jacket), and you get a fine diagonal perspective towards the obelisk in the background. The old architecture is beautiful - I'm not sure yet whether I like seeing signs like "Pizza Hut" or "Reebok" on it ... Good capture, and well done on the notes too.

An interesting slice of life in a far away city. I found it amusing to see the Pizza Hut sign on the left. In general the clothing looks drab, but is highlighted by the girl in the foreground in the very pink jacket. Very well seen Per, a nice composition.

And a fine example of street life you got here - specially the lady in pink :-) This could be London, Paris as well - and I notice a Pizza hut - I seen that kids with walkmen also a common sight here - thanks Per for sharing this view normally not found in brochures.

I love this kind of pictures - with many people in them, who are not posing, just doing what they usually do... And your shot brings me back to the uncomparable atmosphere of Leningrad. Thank you so much!
