It is memorial to blockade tram in St.-Petersburg. Leningrad’s blockade continued 900 days in 1941-44 during World War II. There are many legends of blockade. One of them that trams went to Strelna suburb of Petersburg when German troops approached to outskirts of city.
Tram moving was interrupted in winter of 1941-42 and it was renewed in spring of 1942.
This memorial was mounted in Avtovo not far from place where trams were used as barricade against German tanks. |
