Photographer’s Note

5 Eylül 2007 tarihinde Türkiye'nin de katıldığı 20. Uluslararası Kitap Fuarı Moskova'da açıldı. Ben de görevli olarak Moskova'yı ziyaret etme fırsatı buldum.

Fuar; 1939 tarihinde Sovyet Sosyalist Cumhuriyetler Birliği'ne bağlı 16 ülkenin ziraat ürünlerini sergilemesi için yapılmış olan VDNKh alanında idi.

Türkiye fuardaki en iyi stand ödülünü aldı.

Bu fotoğraf orada bulunan pavyonlardan birisi üzerindeki üreticileri gösteren tahatadan yapılmış bir eser.

The VDNKh's genesis was the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (VSKhV) of 1939. This display of the fruits of Socialism and showpiece of Stalinist monumental art was intended to open two years earlier, but was delayed by the purging of many of its leading participants.

The exhibition was so successful that it was revived on a permanent basis in 1954, with some eighty pavilions spread over 578 acres.

Gradually, Western goods started appearing and the Soviet pavilions lost whatever conviction they might once have possessed. Shorn of ideological pretensions, it has now been renamed the All-Russia Exhibition Centre (VVTs) - but everyone continues to call it the VDNKh.

Hello, komshi,
An interesting shot of one of the symbols of the soviet-era.
As I've seen this place myself, this shot reminds me of various things and above all my youth.

Haluk,
the light management is a very striking here and giving a good distribution of light and shadow to enhance the appearence of the lady right in the middle. I'm usually not very fond of center placement of the main attraction, but I have to admit that here it really looks good.
The diagonal uplooking angle gives a vivid expression to this statues and erases quite a lot the otherwise very static impressions that those communistic art provides.
A very good framing blending in with the colors and mood of the shot.

Bu enfes tahta işçiliğini çok güzel bir ışık/karanlık dengesiyle sunmuşsunuz. Kompozisyonunuz, her detayı belirgin kılan netlik ve tahta renkleriyle zıtlaşmayan sepya tonlaması ile çok hoş bir fotoğraf. Keşke bizim kitap fuarlarındaki pavyonlar da böyle eserlerle süslense...Aldığmız ödülle ilgili gurur veren bilgi için de teşekkürler.

not: Costas Ferris ile Ankara'da Rembetiko'yu sahneleyeceğinizi okudum. Çok sevdiğim filmlerden birisidir. Çok şaşırdım ve mutlu oldum gerçekten. İstanbul'da da sahnelenecek mi acaba eser?
