Fountain with Golden Statues Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here is one more picture of the beautiful fountain "Friendship of Nations" which I took almost 1 year ago. The fountain is one of the main attractions at the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VVTs). The Exhibition was founded at 1939 as agricultural exhibition of Soviet Union. During the years of Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) this exhibition was closed, and was only reopened in 1954 after death of Stalin (1953). The Fountain has gilded statues of maidens in the national costumes of the sixteen Soviet republics demurely encircle a golden wheat sheaf. In 2006 it has been renovated, so that you can see that the statues are shining gold as like recently made.

Great shot! When I saw this I was immediately struck by the similarities between this and the famous golden founain at Peterhof in St. Petersburg. I like the close in view, which really shows the water splashing on the figures. Excellent!

Bonjour Arthur,
Avec des paramètres d'exposition très bien chosis que malheureusement nous ne pourrons pas découvrir, tu as bien figé ces mouvements d'eau tout en donnant du panache aux lumières et aux couleurs.
Bon cadrage centré et symétrique.

Hi Arthur,

you've created a wonderful image by getting in close to the fountain, we can see water from all angles. The colours are strong and the light is very good. It's a place I'd let you drive me to my friend so I could photograph it too. A fine capture, well done.
