Taking a cue from Bob's critique, I have rotated counter-clockwise, and cropped the bottom. I also did Auto Color which helped a lot.

Great view of the Peter And Paul Fortress on the opposite river bank.

Very nice shot, good composition, colors are good too, and lets you know the place. It's a shame that the sun was not helping, probably more illumination on the left side of the sphinx could show us more detail. I also like much more this final version rather than the original.

I've been in Russia many times but I didn't manage to see any Sphinx there :) It looks completely out of the blue in photo from Neva bank. I wish You could give more info about it. As well as marianojf I like this version more than the previous one.

You know, I like the original version more, because it shows the place better (one gets a better idea of where the sphynx is located), but I agree about the colors - the final version's colors are more intense.
Interesting, I was looking for these sphynxes all around St. Petersburg once and finally found them on my last day there, and got a similar photo, but with me near the sphynx!
