Photographer’s Note
I've posted a number of shots from Kamchatka that show a dead, desolate landscape. I wanted to post one that shows some life. Taken through the window of a helicopter on the way to visit the Valley of the Geysers.

Very dynamic lines and colors. I really enjoy the patterns they create.

Beutiful and dramatic landscape. This looks like a massive drainage basin. A geologist's dream.

Very interesting crater. The rim is so evident. The difference in color and haze really gives a sense of great height to the rim compared to what is beyond. And the inside of this crater is great! All those lines. They all move out like neurons or something. The colors are great. I've never seen a photo of a place like this before. Very interesting and very nicely photographed.

I have seen the landscape of Kamchatka in one of Michael Palin's series (Full Circle) and your photo brings back those memories. Stunning view, beautiful lines, well done.

Another fabulous helicopter shot! The forms are spectacular, and the whole thing strikes as an enormous and unending landscape in which humans would surely feel completely dwarfed.
