In spite of having fought in the World War II, in spite of having brought sacrifices, in spite of having been awarded many medals and orders in recognition of her bravery and contribution to the victory, in spite of having lived in much better conditions than the others, she lived a hard life, full of work, full of self-denying with just a few benefits, like she did not need to wait in long cues for shopping. That was communism. And what about the others....

I love the story... I agree with it, that's how is was... That's very sad. I am afraid the things did not change much... yet... During the perestrojka old people told me that it was even worse than after that war, with the difference that there was hope after the war!
