One of the buildings of the Smolny Institute looking warm and peaceful on a winter night.
Built by Giacomo Quarenghi between 1806 and 1808 as a school for aristocratic girls, the Smolny Institute was thrust into the limelight in 1917 when it became the headquarters for the Bolshevik Central Committee and the Petrograd Soviet. From here, Trotsky and Lenin directed the October Revolution. The Smolny Institute served as the seat of power until March 1918.

rosso predominante che rende piacevole l'atmosfera di questa foto dove l'edificio domina sulla scena.
Well done! TFS!

I really like this night shot. The lighting is excellent. Simple but effective composition and a very well chosen point of view. It seems that the line of bushes in the foreground are in focus and a little sharper than the architecture though, maybe f/3.5 was a little too shallow and perhaps a smaller aperture would have been better but I see that your shutter is 1/8 of a second and you are shooting at ISO1600 so I'm guessing this was a compromise for not using a tripod? Anyway, you did very well under these circumstances and the image is well exposed. Thanks for sharing.

HI Marina !!
very nice night shot ........ I am intrigued by the reddish tones of the snow in the footpath ...... it adds beauty to the photo.
A great sample of Italian Architecture...... and with so much history of its glory days.
We are getting a great telecast of the Olympic games.
