Photographer’s Note
Walking along the shoreline of lake Baikal, I saw these two people talking to one another, and somehow I was moved by it.
I can't tell exactly why I like this one so much, I guess there's intimacy, it shows two people having a conversation and really seem to listen carefully to one another.
But still, this all might be just my imagination.
For me it's a sort of 'feel-good' picture, as a counterweight to all negative messages that can be heard.
Anyway, I added some noise, so that we can't hear what they are talking about.....or, maybe I felt a bit uneasy as if I was breaking in in their privacy.
Cropped, highlight&Shadow, desaturated a bit, and added a frame.
update: After a few comments about the noise, I uploaded the original as a WS.

You are right ... ...
This is a very touchy moment and a great 'feel-good' picture of two elderly persons who have crossed a long journey through LIFE.
Thanks for sharing such a moment .. ..
Good title chosen for this photograph ..

I like these two men who are talking.
But I'm not sure for some things in this picture:
The men seem too much on the line. The remainder of the photograph is rather tarnished by the addition of the noise.

Agree about the scene that you've captured here. With Pascal, I'm not too sure about the noise here. I like it for many shots, but this one seems to ask to be clear and sharp (I promise I won't listen in). Still a touching shot.

Hello, Rinie :)
What a pleasure to see this image, to read your note.
IMHO, it´s a very difficult image to deal with, due to the economic amount of colors and the composition in itself.
I just love the solution you,ve made, but i could not resist to make a ws for the fun of it.
I am sure Torben would love it too...
big kiss to you.

Indeed an experimental finishing but the composition with a nice subject target placement and perspective beach lines with very natural colors stands and can be with another approach satisfy all I suppose, if you never try you never gain anything maintaining the average, so I like your attempt. I even think undoing grains on target alone would maintain your vision and put full spot on it.

Very nice composition, Rinie. Those 2 persons are very well placed into the frame with the beach. Good idea also to breack their privacy with a little noise. Well done!

Very nice composition, full of soul and tenderness. I understand what you wanted to do by adding noise, it's a thoughtful idea, and the result looks OK to me, but I'm not sure it was really necessary. Maybe you could have cropped the top part of the picture, to focus on the people a little bit more (something like the cropping in Isabelle's WS).
Nice picture anyway. And great travelogue, I wish you said a little bit more about the story of this trip.
Best wishes to you for the new year!

Wonderful capture Rinie. I love the composition and the atmosphere here. The intimacy of these people against the backdrop of the lake works great. It's wonderful to look at this pic and take it all in.
I like Isabel's WS too it zooms further in on the 'engine' of this pic.
I'm not quite sure about the noise here though - I understand y'r motives but it gives a hint of a paparazzo feeling....and this is so far from your approach to people and photography. But still a wonderful job!

1047 people has seen this photo until the moment I´ve reached. As you are less active in the last days I´ve decided to dive in your gallery a bit, finally I´ve swimm till this shore to share the intimacy of this two people that, as you say, they look like listening each other very carefully.
When I see photos of faraway people I always wonder how they feel, how their cotidianety is, their targets, their past... Are they very different from us?
While seing this photo at the same time that a wonderful sunset in my left side of the balcony is taking place, I miss long distace travels, and I thank the sun for share this moment with this unknow people living in a galaxy far, far away...

Hello Rinie, it looks like to me an excellent work of observation and imagination, I also like seeing as two to present itself they speak, I think that it is one of the pleasures and I privilege that we have the human beings to speak and especially to be able to listen.
Your idea of adding grain to the image seems to me good, gives him to the photo another dimension, another delight that I like.
Congratulations friend for the good picture.
Un saludo y hasta pronto.
