Photographer’s Note

The title has nothing to do with this shot, except for the name of the boat. Valeriy Brusov was a 19th C Russian poet, a pretty good name for a boat.

On coming back from St Petersburg I was amazed to see that golden dome had now been completed on the reconstructed St. Sophia cathederal, less than a week earlier had been nothing more than the structural framework, as shown in the workshop. It amazing how quickly you can build a cathederal if you really want to, this shot was taken only about 5 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
