I think it's time to move on, at least for the time being. I say goodbye to Moscow with another nightshot, of the Kremlin against the western sky. (my favorite skies at night!)
As for tourists things, there's enough to be seen in Moscow (I see myself as a tourist, just spending a few days, and seeing those famous things, simply make me a tourist, even if I don't want to be that). The train (75 hours to go to Irkutsk), is waiting, and so is Lake Baikal.

I have not felt any real contact with the people in Moscow, but maybe I have not put enough effort in it. Of course there is the language barrier, but that is just ONE way to communicate. My personal opinion is, that they do not feel very happy, and I don't think people are very open. When I look people in their eyes, I smile, but it was only seldom that I got a smile back. Also, there was not much reason for smiles as the disaster in Beslan had just taken place, and there had been an attack on a subway station.

The churches that are displayed here are, from left to right, (I hope I'm correct), the Archangel's Cathedral, then you can see the domes of the Assumption Cathedral (I have uploaded that church in a WS of the Novodevichiy convent), the high Bell Tower must be the Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the Assumption Belfry, and the Filaret's Annex. (Thanks to joker for the correct names of the churches and towers!)
The green tower in the foreground is part of the wall around the Kremlin (which means 'Fortress', so actually you can find Kremlins on any strategic place).

Picture is cropped a little, rotated, levels adjusted, a frame added, and USM applied.

Very good night photo Rinie. The shutter time is really good: no burn area, only good exposure time in this composition.
The colors are very well renderred.
Good work.

Alexandre

Rinie, this is very beautiful. The golden domes stand out wonderfully against the deep blue sky. Good exposure and detail. I can't wait to see your pics from Siberia!

A remarkable light well managed Rinie. Also a fine excentricity with the tower on the right higher than the towers on the left. Frankly I think the right 2/3 of the picture could stand well by itself.

Your night shots are great! That blue sky is lovely and your pov and exposure excellent once again. Your note is very interesting too.

Exceptional clarity in this one, with the sky hesitating between night and day.
Good composition too, even if it would have been better if the green roof was placed between the two churches.
Well done, Rinnie !

very good shot Rinie. Very nice colors against the end of evening sky (we call between dog and wolf - entre chien et loup - in french). I only wish the green tower was not in the picture as it does not seem to fit with the rest and somewhat breaks up the atmosphere.

Very curious blue colored sky , pussed up ? seeing some grains due to long exposure or high iso I presume, but what a nice contrast to those towers with their golden domes sharp to the edge and as Michel indicated, I would have made that one facade darker less imposing, not cloning out.
Very pleasant to look at this nightshot Rinnie.

Great picture, very beautiful sky. I like the clarity of the picture and the color of the blue sky in contrast with the color of the churches.

A perfect night shot of the Kremlin, Rinie. You used a mixture of natural and artifivial sources of light. I like the large area of sky.
You not is interesting, though a bit sad.
So, where will be your next station?

This is just so well taken Rinie. Two in a way opposite lighting can be seen here. Golden hues on the left and bright light on the right, obvious on the minaret/tower facades. With the evanescence evening sky,it stands out the building very well. Almost Disneylike.

This is very dramatic Rinie and as you suggest, a wonderful bookend with the other nighttime shot of Moscow. The blue sky is a stunning backdrop for the fine golden onion domes in the midground. Colors and details are beautifully rendered. I especially like the shimmering gold so carefully illumined. Fine work.

Did you carry a tripod all that way! Very good time of day to catch this landmark, night shots at twilight usually look much more effective than totally dark IMO. Interesting your perspective on Muscovites. I think things have got rather more difficult, and less optimistic since I was there. As you say, Beslan can't have helped.

A wonderful light in this one, Rinie, looks like the "night shot" mode is just one more thing in the D70 that can fully be relied on :-) Great angle to get a good view of all the different spires reaching into the night sky, and well done steadying the camera on the bridge. Beautiful result.

Hi Rinie, a superb night shot with an excellent choice of timing, the not yet dark sky brings beautiful tones to the photo and at the very same moment, the already lit Kremlin appears in beautiful light and colors. As in your previous post, I like very much how the globes seem to glow.

Hi, Rinie
Curious thing - I've got a picture with exactly the same cropping and also taken at night (though in winter) from the same place, I guess, on the Moskvoretsky Bridge.
Evening sky certainly makes your shot.
What stopped me from posting it here is that, as Ebbe mentioned, this composition indeed falls into two parts.
Now that you've posted your version, my variant is in WS :)

Mmmm, what a fairylike light !
Great to have such a nice sky as your background, very nice picture with superb colours from you.
(And there was another one with Lenin and others, have to look for it...)

Another great night shot from Russia! The composition is lovely and the image is very sharp. i like the contrast of the warm buildings with the cool night sky.

Another superb view, Rinie! Excellently positioned against the lovely night sky, all these domes and towers with golden reflections bring a wonderful feeling of magic to your shot. Excellent job!

Wow Rinie, the light and colours (especially the blue sky) are superb! This really is the perfect moment to catch this building, because the combination of the evening sky and the artificial light gives the picture a fairytale atmosphere. Very well done!

hello Rinie
nice nice ;o)
your color are beautifull here
next time come to see Paris by night
take care

This is an incredible shot of the Kremlin, Rinie! It has such a power alone with its architecture but the way you capture it really gives the impression of such great power behind the walls and here trees. The way the buildings, especially with their gilt domes really has such a radiance here as it rises above the trees into that impressive sky that is not yet totally dark. The contrast and depth and colors are all spot on. And your point of view captures great lines that pop out of the background. Excellent job!

zeer goed schemerbeeld, goed gebruik van omringend licht, Die diepe blauwe hemel is mooi

Prachtig zicht. Goed samengestelde nachtfoto; alleen een beetje scherper maken. Voor de rest: perfect voor mij.

glorious capture..i love the color in the sky

Oei Rinie, dat is weer een hele mooie capture. Het arrangement van de glanzend vergulde koepels van het Kremlin tegen de donkerblauwe avondlucht en de subtiel aangelichte gevels zijn wonderschoon. Excellent werk!

What a beauty Rinie! So sharp and clear and the colors are stunning! How long did you stay in Moscow? I'm sorry you got there in the aftermath of such a horrible tragedy...

Great with its purity and colour palette view on the Moscow Kremlin. Yellow-lit cathedrals look weightless against the twilight sky also lit from downside. Very unique view and a very observant note too. I realize you were very interested in Russia, which is my native country to travel, it all by train. Besides, did you visit Kazan? It's my home city :)
As for Moscow, sorry to inform you but I've found your description a little bit incorrect. To the left you can see the Archangel’s Cathedral (The Annunciation Cathedral is smaller and stands right behind). You were right about the Assumption Cathedral and then, to the right are Ivan the Great Bell-Tower, the Assumption Belfry and the Filaret’s Annex. And the Tsar's Bell stands near the Belltower on the ground and cannot be seen from outside. The matter is that I posted a Kremlin view here (http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Russia/photo82293.htm)before and knew much about it when composing my own note. :))
My best regards.

A stunning dichotomy between the blue & gold. Excellent sharpness, pov, color saturation, lighting & graphism. I like the dark, inky clouds on the right.

Rinie, very nice both your photos and your notes, the night sky was so beautiful and the composition matchs well with the colors of the architecture there, although on the right bottom there were a little dead-darkness...
but i thought it was not the key point,i'm fond of your attitude to being a traveller, actually i think if u came here in China,u would have the same mind of the people:ohh, they seem not to be happy...not exactly i supposed, because the different culture and the reticent and shy characters of the people...
cheers, and thanks for sharing your feeling here,
xu

LOVELY Pic.. goes in my faves...
Amazing sky.. somethign which fascinates me..
and lovely details on all the towers..

This is what I am looking for -- the photo and info -- to plan my next trip.

Thanks for sharing.

Hallo Rinie,

Very beautiful picture with crisp, bright colours. Nice lighting from below as well. Bright blue sky.. Nice contrasts..
Thanks for your constructive comments! Yes, it was already dark and I had to put my camera on my bike-saddle for a bit of stability. Greetings

Hello Rinnie,

You chose what we call commonly the
" Parliement " hour, and I enjoy seeing these colors, dark blue and orange mixed together. Bun on the overall, it is a picture with full sharpness, and a great discipline for verticals which I also appreciate very much.
nb: "Parliement" comes of course from the cigarette package color. Keep well ! Izzet Keribar

Hello Rinie,
I really like this photo, something different that I have seen before :)... Great contrast and colors make churches and bell tower looks like 3D model... Good job, bravo!
With BEST regards,
Arthur

great shot, fantastic colours and light,
beautiful blue sky,
I like it

nice shot, too bad the front tower is ruining the atmosphere.. might have been better to just delete it afterwards.. i love the colors and the landscape, but that is just not welcome.
