Two styles of history
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The roof and the domes belongs to the world of the Boyars, the aristocratic power of the medieval Russia (I recommended to see the Eisenstein´s movies "Ivan the terrible" and "The boyar´s plot"). Behing this old buildings you have the Rossia Hotel built back in the sovietic empire, it´s not so old but getting... For sure in both places history took place, intriguing, whispering. Power seem to be always power.

Interesting contrast between the old and new. Good colours too. Possibly some distortion correction might help but I'm not sure - I sort of like the leaning effect in this case.
When the hotel was originally built I suspect it was viewed as the height of modernity and a big step forward from tradition. The crumbling concrete block doesn't inspire the same feeling now! Just out of interest, under the hotel name are two other words in Cyrillic script:
Gastinitsa = Hotel
Restoran = Restaurant (obviously!)
Two important words to know if you ever travel in Russia :-)
Very nice shot Miguel and a good note! This is Moscow's great trouble - old architecture has been disapearing first for idealogical reasons and now because of business interests. Nice catch.
Saludos
Daniel
One bitter fact - in a year or so nobody will be able to take such photo as Moscow Government decided to destroy Hotel Rossia and to build something new, but (I'm sure) in the same stile - glass, concrete etc.
No wonder though, as Mayor's wife owns one of the most powerful construction companies in the city. Instead of renovation they destroy historic cityscape and build tasteless "Luzhkov'" towers of business centers.
So this sample of 60-ies architecture will share the fate of Stalin's hotel Moskva in front of Historical Museum
