Photographer’s Note

Ancient Kargopol in Arkhangelsk Oblast is situated on both sides of the Onega River. It's real russian province and real russian winter. The old woman has gone for the water and stopped to have a rest. You can see traditional russian boots - felt boots "valenki" and quilted jacket "telogreika".

Interesting shot, especially with the note. The red stands out, but it's the woman's face (also with red) that really catches my attention. Good work.

Good shot with good note, the traditional name of boots etc.
A hard life for people living in this area, as I can see, in winter time, each small job takes your strength.
I would have liked a little larger.

Tatiana, what a great daily life scene! Thank you for pointing out the traditional clothing of the babushka. She seems to be happily posing with perhaps a toothless grin and the red bucket set in the snow completes the composition. Very good, Marlene
