A couple of days ago a friend took me to the Borovetsky woods near Naberezhny Chelny. When we reached the spot we found a camp of Krishnaits singing Hare Krishna (not sure about the spelling :) In the same camping place there were bards sining songs by the fire. We joined them and listened to sad and funny stories they were singing till one or two at night.
Now the photo.
I wanted to get a picture of the sunset behind the pine-trees but it was quite hard cuz I don't have a tripod. So I tried to shoot with a flash. The effect was a bit unexpected to me. I thought I'd get just a dark frame but the sunset and the sky were bright enough to capture! And the flash was weak enough not to reach the trees so they make a nice silhouette.
Now that the thumbnail looks a bit dark, I think, I should have tried ISO higher than 64… But I'm pretty sure the sunset would loose the gradation from bright yellow to orange and would look too bright. By the way, I gave up the idea of sharpening the picture for the same reason: I loose the colours of the sunset.

no no no! no higher iso needed for that! who needs to see the crusts on the trunks? it is just beautiful in its bold idea and realization. a shame that i am so late to comment on this one, as it is such "daring" photos i crave to see nowadays...
all the best,

Beautifull forest view, with the trees silhouettes in front of the sunset. There is even some variations in the color of the sky. Well done.
