Old Church in the Nikolskoe Village, a photo from Astrakhan, Volga

Photographer's Note

Nikolskoe (5234 inhabitants) is the largest settlement in the separated northwestern third part of Yenotayevskiy District and the second largest settlement in the whole district, after its administrative center, Yenotayevka (7616 inhabitants). Although the village of Nikolskoe is old enough (its history began in the XVIII century), it is not considered as a cultural-heritage settlement, as Astrakhan, for example, but in the village there are two cultural-heritage architectural objects, including this church in the name of Rozhdestva Presvyatoy Bogoroditsi (the Nativity of the Theotokos) build at the end of the XIX century.

Being a cultural-heritage object, the church is restoring very carefully, with comprehensive study of all archive documents about its original architectural and decorative designs. Amid delivering religious services, its exterior walls is still under reconstruction and renovation, while the interior and cupolas are fully completed.

very beautiful the shapes of this church, in some aspects ortodox churches in my state try to imitate this style using modern materials, I guess you should have seen one I posted few days ago.
