Photographer's Note

The place in this picture is in the Ikryaninskiy District of Astrakhan Oblast. I have taken the picture from the bridge over the Tarankhol Yerik (it is seen in the foreground).

The world “yerik” in Russian means a narrower anabranch between wider anabranches. The Tarankhol Yerik flows from the Glavnaya Protoka (the Main Anabranch, you can see it in the background) to the Bakhtemir River, which is the westernmost distributary of the Volga River at its delta.

Hello Sergiy,
this is a wonderful environment and the special light of the sunset makes it very suggestive and enhances its peaceful atmosphere. I like very much how the dark colours of the lush vegetation and the reflections alternate with the magical pale colours of the evening. The sun is only a detail in this composition but its perfect placement makes it a very eye catching and lovely one. Congratulations and thank you!
