The Perm festival goes on. This street theater is great! LOL!!! You can see two photos in WS too.
"Bread and Circuses" (or bread and games) (from Latin: panem et circenses) is a metaphor for a superficial means of appeasement. It was the basic Roman formula for the well-being of the population, and hence a political strategy unto itself. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the creation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through diversion, distraction, and/or the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace. The phrase also implies the erosion or ignorance of civic duty amongst the concerns of the common man.
In modern usage, the phrase is taken to describe a populace that no longer values civic virtues and the public life. To many across the political spectrum, left and right, it connotes a supposed triviality and frivolity that characterized the Roman Republic prior to its decline into the autocratic monarchy characteristic of the later Roman Empire's transformation about 44 B.C.

Bread (money) and games (football) is still valid today (good luck to Russia.
You caught a fun expression and composed the picture well with background onlookers blurred yet distinguishable to give context.

Hello Sergey. The eyes and facial expressions say it all. You've photographed in the ideal moment. Such a moment is not caught every day. Well done and informative text. Rgds, Wolfgang.

everyone must smile seeing this man expression. Amusing shot. I am not specially sad after yesterday match, and I hope you aren't either. The comments were so pathetic before, great expectations of many fans but with no ground. I imagine the comments tomorrow in newspapers. Now a lot of comments in Internet. Among them for instance: how it was nothing good, Russians go home. (I hope you are not offended :)).
Have you already plans when you come?

CLODO (30256) 2012-06-17 1:21
good portrait in action of this funny actor, maybe a little too centered (you could crop the right part with the back of the lady). I like also the blurred persons at the back, laughing.
Spend a good sunday

Hello Serghei - One cannot do anything but smile at this shot. Your POV looking down on the rider is excellent, I like the inclusion of a little of his horse. But it has to be the man's expression which makes the shot! I love the way he hams it up for the camera! Well timed. Warm regards rosemary

a superb and delightful picture, a very vivid capture of the performer's funny face and the atmosphere around him. You managed to fit so much information in the vertical frame and offer it with great clarity and lighting. There's a marvellous sense of depth and the performer stands out so well against the more luminous and colourful smiling spectators. I think this is the reason you placed them at the centre of the frame. A captivating picture, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good week,

Great picture and great note!
My best regards,
jcpix (13662) 2014-08-05 15:56
I like the well informed notes that accompany this picture, but this gentleman's expression is what steals the show! :) What great timing to capture this look, and this glance sideways give it a comical appeal. It's also fun to look at the many faces in the crowd...even if they are blurred. lol Depth of field is optimal for this type of shot, giving full attention to this character and still showing the background participants in the festival. Really well done my friend. enjoy the new day. Best wishes.
Cheers from sunny, and hot Phoenix,
