COLORS OF THE SUMMER, a photo from Perm, Ural

Photographer's Note

This is photo from the TE-meeting with my friend Wolfgang Forcher in Perm.
This is the windmill from the Khokhlovka architectural and ethnographic open-air museum. (19th century).
On the background you see the Church of the Transfiguration 1707.

This one locates in Perm municipal district, on right bank of Kama River, in 43 km from Perm. It was founded in 1969 and opened for visitors in 1980. It is first open-air architectural museum of wooden architecture in Ural.

Khokhlovka include 23 unique monuments of 17th - early 20th centuries. This is territory about 35 ha with many wooden constructions and buildings that was moved here from different places of Perm Krai.

It is one of the most important attractions in Perm Krai.

A very pleasant summer picture, with an abundance of flowers! A very good balance and depth in the picture between the two buildings. The building technique of the foreground windmill looks interesting, the details can be studied here.

I suppose you were lacking of room , to include the whole mill in the frame . nevertheless I like the composition , with the interesting wind mill , the beautiful blue flowers , and the attractive chapel in the BG . Splendid colors and light .

Hello Serghei,
Already finished with Copenhagen? And no Malmö? To me, a lovely picture from summer is more than welcome. The old windmill is very nice to watch, but especially I love the view of the blue and yellow flowers among the green grass and many trees. The old church also looks very interesting, although it is far away.

Hi Serghei,

Not something I would have expected in Russia, it's nice to see a different side to the traditional images of your country. Looks to have been a pleasantly sun filled day, the field looks so inviting. Great framing of this windmill along with the church in the background, I like the sense of depth/distance. Clarity and detail are sharp, very nice presentation!

Picture postcard perfect capture, this could not possible be better. You have so many rich elements here. The windmill on its own is beautiful, but those blue flowers leading off to the fantastic chuch in the background is class! Wonderful composition, this is a really rich and pleasing shot. Hello Serghei.
Before reading your descriptive note and seeing the picture in the gallery, I thought it was a windmill in Holland.
It is a wonderful composition, is the beautiful old mill, standing out even more by the beautiful setting, surrounded by trees and purple flowers that carpet is a real delight.

The wooden church and windmill are located in a magnificent landscape. Among the many trees we find a sea of colourful flowers.
The summer feeling is displayed correctly.

Hi Serghei, I can imagine how cold and a lot of snow must be in Perm now and how you miss the sunny days. Beautiful photo with this small mill, quite different from other types and very nice flowers around. i love such open air museums, must be fantastic this one.

the colours in this image are as striking as the focal point provided by the windmill. the little wooden house to the left acts as a great compositional balance to the main feature. i love the colours under this lovely blue sky.

I would never have guessed this photo was taken here. I probably would have guessed another 10 countries before picking Russia!
we're so programmed into seeing these windmills in certain places i suppose.

The mill is well placed in the frame. The distance between the mill and the building is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the windmill. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.
