Grotto pavilion in Catherine Park, a photo from Saint Petersburg, Northwest

Photographer's Note

A grotto pavilion was invariably a feature in Western European regular parks of the eighteenth century. Most of the work to construct this Baroque Grotto was carried out in 1755–56 under Empress Elizabeth, but it was completed in the 1760s under Catherine II.
Nowadays the pavilion is used as a venue for temporary exhibitions.

Great reflection shot - good exposure enough to keep the clouds in the sky because sometimes a camera takes the reading from the darker reflection and overexposes the sky but here it hasn't - great shot. Well done.

Hi Jenna,
I'm really glad you posted this, when you put up the other shot of the column on the island, I noticed this in the background and was hoping to see it close :)
And here it is, in all its finery. A fantastic reflection of this little mini-palace, and in such a lush green setting. Great light too, it looks as if the light was bouncing off the grotto quite harshly, but you balanced it perfectly.
