Photographer's Note

Here's a Smolny Cathedral in Smolny Monastery in St-Petersburg. It's a pure example of late Baroc style, built by architect Rastrelli in years when Classicism was already appearing.
It's 97 meters high, and so well balanced and decorated that architect Giacomo Quarenghi, also an Italian who was working in St-Petersburg, and who hated Baroc in general and Rastrelli in personal, when walking past Smolny always took his hat off and exclaimed: Ecco una chiesa!, which means "What a Church it is!".
***
Nowadays it's a concert hall with a very good acoustic.
