The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg. It was built on the site where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated and was dedicated in his memory. Architecturally, the Cathedral differs from St. Petersburg's other structures. The city's architecture is predominantly Baroque and Neoclassical, but the Savior on Blood harks back to medieval Russian architecture in the spirit of romantic nationalism. It intentionally resembles the 17th-century Yaroslavl churches and the celebrated St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. The Church contains over 7500 square metres of mosaics—according to its restorers, more than any other church in the world.

I stood there at your POV ,years ago but managed no good shot.
Many fine details to see here at this unique architecture and great contrast with this perfect summer sky,

Good POV and hence the excellence in composition. The colourful onion domes and the mural on the foreground has been taken with great clarity and proportion. The delicate and deft artwork and the skilfully made decorative designs captured in detail are a treat to watch.
The light and shadow has also been so managed that it enhances the depth of the architecture.

what a great photo! Love the blue sky and the colorful domes of the church. The architecture is world known and very pretty.

I love this shot, truly magnificent! I like how the Sun reflects from the gilded cupola with a faint golden mist around it. The sharpness of each intricate decorative detail is, also, great!
