Peterhof imperial residence was designed by Peter the Great, who was impressed by Versaille parks during his visits in France. Thus Peterhof imperial residence was created. It's one of the most beautiful parks in Europe, and it house hundreds of fountains, Grand Palace and many pavillions, many bronze statues and so on.
In summer Peterhof are crouded and very beautiful - but in winter its almost empty, with statues and fountains placed in the wooden crates.
Thus the grand place in winter is almost empty, I vizited it yesterday in the last hour before dusk, and was quite impressed with all these lengths and stairs and lanes and trees - all empty with one or two tourists here and there, and locals with baby-carts...

Белое безмолвие. Чем-то напомнило Шонбрунн, там когда стоишь внутри дворца где-то вдалеке триумфальные какие-то постройки и такая же идеальная геометрия.
О, у вас снегу навалило. Чья-то недоработка...

Hi Uhu, Very interesting note about the inspiration for this impressive structure. The blanket of snow makes the stone of the building really stand out. Good slightly magical light. TFS. Murray
