Photographer's Note
Ancient fortress Koporye was founded by Teutonic Order Knights in 1240; later conquered by Novgorod and become the key-stone of the North-West defence of this feudal republic.
Now long forsaken, fortress still stands, with its towers weathered, but impressive enough.
Human down there included in the photo to put the scale here.

И тут Тевтоник Ордер... Сильно они размахнулись тогда. И чем они хуже монгльской орды были ,не понятно. Хорошее фото классической сторожевой башни. Asia, Russia, вот бы рыцари подивились!

Hi Owl, i haven't seen your photos for ages! Nice tower amidst the forest. The human down there is in right place to enliven the scene and to give the scale. Interesting place, such ruins are always very attractive to me.
Warm regrads
