Photographer's Note

Today, the Gatchina Palace park is slowly being returned to its 19th century magnificence, but the formal gardens have all but disappeared, and the extensive parkland is for the most part charmingly overgrown. Several artificial islands were created in landscaping around the lakes, and they are connected by fine stone bridges in classical style.
