Photographer’s Note

So, here is the very special church. It's a mark of the start of independency of Novgorod merchants republic from the Prince's power.
***
In year 1133 happened so-called Novgorodian Revolt, during which city's merchants casted off their Prince Vsevolod and launched a law that was in use since that year till year 1471: each new Prince have to sign a contract with the City, in which City guarantee a money and Prince guarantee military help in need of it. Thus, Princes become just a condotierres, men hired to fight for the Novgorod.
City was so rich, and it's salary for Princes so big, that being Novgorodian Prince was a object of fierce rivalry for Princes and Houses all along Medieval Ages.
***
So this church, Repose of the Virgin on Torg, was made by last really autocratic Prince before the Revolt, Vsevolod, and finished in year 1135.
It's an eye-witness of those events that happened so long ago now.
