St Prokopius was a German Catholic, merchant, who traded with Novgorod the Great in 1270-s. He converted to the Orthodox Christianity, and become a monk in Varlaamo-Chutynsky Monastery in Novgorod. He was canonised after his death for his prophesies and some other things, and become one of the a local saints of Novgorod City. As he was a merchant before, merchants of Novgorod liked him a lot and send their prayers to him, and built churches in his name.
Church of St Prokopius are standing on the Yaroslav's Court in Novgorod, and was built by rich merchant Dmitry Syrkov in 1521.
Nice example of Russian architecture of XVI century, it is.
