“Oh, Jewel in the Lotus, eh!”, a photo from Krasnodar, North Caucasus

Photographer's Note

At the road Slavyansk-na-Kubany – Krasnodar, near the stanitsa of Mar’yanskaya, as it is believed, there was manifestation of the Blessed Virgin in XI century. Now at this place there are a chapel and a lake with lotuses, small part of which is seen in this picture.

The title of the picture is a literal translation of the six-syllabled Sanskrit mantra ”Om Ma-Ni Pad-Me Hum”.

Today, on December 31st 2012 in Julian calendar, I would like to use the sacred meanings of each syllable of this mantra for wishing everyone to have in new year 2013 even more of Om (Generosity), Ma (Ethics), Ni (Patience), Pad (Diligence), Me (Renunciation) and Hum (Wisdom)!

This photo is very interesting; the lotus flowers are in different stages. I did not know what they looked like before they actually opened, and here I can see it perfectly. The flowers that have already fully bloomed are beautiful, and I also like the message in your note. May you also have a new year full of the things you wrote about. :-)

I know , of course this mantra om ma ni pad me hum, but I didn't know its meanings. Thanks! it is learning through photography. beautiful photo of lotuses, perfect quality. When we see it we understand why lotus is a symbol of purity.
