Photographer's Note

This bridge is a gate to Irakhiktyuz Valley, also known as Emmanuelle's Glade. The place was named after the Russian infantry general Emmanuelle, who sent his soldiers to storm the top of the Mount Elbrus in 1829 from here. That was the first successful expedition to the top of Elbrus. Nowadays the valley still preserves its wild nature unspoiled. It is normally used as a camping place for climbers heading toward the top of Elbrus. The local station of rescuers is also situated here.
